LONG WAITS IN LINE ARE CAUSING CANADIAN RETAILERS TO LOSE SALES.(Brief Article)

Canadian retailers are losing C$1.7 billion ($1.3 billion) in annual in-store sales because some shoppers become impatient waiting in line and leave the stores without buying what they came for, according to a survey released today by Moneris Solutions Corp., Canada's largest processor of debit and credit card transactions. Moneris hired Leger Marketing to survey 1,510 people from May 18 through May 23, a spokesperson for Toronto-based Moneris tells CardLine today. The survey found that 25% left the store in the past month and 56% did so in the past year without buying anything because they couldn't stand waiting in line, the spokesperson says.
