The one- or two-week breather which used to separate the fall and winter high school sports seasons is gone.

The breather has gradually been replaced by the overlap. Never will it be more evident in SectionII than in the next several days when football and basketball are both very much in the spotlight.

Basketball is starting tonight - and will be in the spotlight throughout most of the weekend. It is the beginning of a season that will last for nearly four months and culminates with the state tournament at Glens Falls Civic Center in late March.

And ... football isn't over yet.
